Repairing Damaged Hair

As hard as we try to protect our hair, we still end up with damage! Our hair just can’t keep up with everything we put it through when styling it. That’s why we’ve put together a list of ways you can rescue your damaged hair.

Follow the tips below to bring your damaged hair back to life!

1. Limit your use of hot styling tools

There is a high chance that your hot styling tools (hair dryer, straightener, curling iron) are what caused the damage to your hair in the first place. Give your hair a break and limit how much you use these tools, opting instead for styles that are gentler on your hair!

2. Use a heat protectant when you do use hot tools

If you do need to use heat to style your hair, make sure you are using a proper heat protectant! Not only will this protect your hair from the damaging effects of your hot tools, it can also combat frizz, boost shine, and keep your hair from becoming dry!

3. Only brush your hair when it is dry

You could be damaging your hair by brushing it when it’s wet! Wet hair is more elastic and therefore more prone to breakage, so give your hair a chance to recover by only brushing it when it is fully dry. If you do need to detangle your hair while it’s wet, do so gently with a wide-tooth comb instead!

4. Apply a Hair Mask

Hair masks are the perfect deep-moisturizing treatment for your damaged hair. There are hair masks you can buy, or you can make your own! One example of a hair mask that is good for damaged hair is an apple cider vinegar mask. Simply mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of olive oil and three egg whites, then rub the mixture into your hair and cover it with a shower cap! After half an hour, shampoo and rinse your hair!

5. Get a haircut!

Sometimes, there is nothing you can do to repair the damage done to your hair. In cases like these, it is best to just cut off all the damaged and split ends and start fresh!

With these tips, you’ll be able to bring your damaged hair back to life in no time!
